Massage Therapists Peter West and Heather Murdoch offer a range of services to help patients heal. Massage therapy approaches incorporated by the masseurs include techniques such as Remedial Massage, Deep Tissue massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Sports Massage, Relaxation (Swedish) Massage, Myofascial Cupping and Myofascial Dry Needling. Our therapists are also skilled in offering stretching and exercise advice. Common conditions that masseurs treat include: headaches, jaw (TMJ) problems, neck pain, shoulder, arm and elbow conditions, (including frozen shoulder, tennis and golfers elbow), upper and lower back conditions, leg, knee and ankle pain. As our massage therapists are qualified and registered practitioners, as a client, you are usually able to claim a rebate through your private health insurance on the spot.
Myotherapy (literally translated as “muscle therapy”), is applied using the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of therapy to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures of the body (this includes the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). The therapist uses a range of modalities for a particular problem, including aches, pains or discomfort at rest or on movement, including those with sports and occupational-induced injuries, increasing range of motion and decreasing tension around joints, restoring muscle balance, improving posture, reducing recovery time and soreness after exercise.
After being a stay-at-home dad for five years, raising his three beautiful children, Peter decided to retrain after his many years working in the desktop publishing / graphic design industry. Having been told for many years that he had “The Touch”, Peter decided to meet this challenge head on, and retrain as a Massage Therapist. After completing both his Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy, Peter is now a fully qualified and insured Myotherapist. Peter specialises in soft tissue manipulation and trigger point therapies, as well as dry needling and vacuum cupping. He embraces both the Western and Eastern philosophies of therapeutic treatment, for example, mixing the sublime pinpoint heat therapy of moxibustion, with the clinical application of dry needling, creating a mix of modalities that has given some incredible results. Peter also works with support organisations and individuals for specific chronic conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s, and will take on research challenges to ensure he has all current best practices for a client’s specific needs.
